The CIA World Factbook is an internet resource that I use frequently. I teach 6th Social Studies, which is course that is focused on world studies (specifically Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Australia). Our curriculum includes studying information about the geography, history, economics, and government of various countries throughout these regions. The CIA website offers up to date information on all these elements that we study. Since we do not have one specific textbook that we use this site is a great reference point for studying these regions and researching various aspects of each region/country that is included in our curriculum.
One activity that I use this website for is finding the current Gross Domestic Product and Literacy Rates for the countries that we study. We then use that information to create graphs so that the two may be compared in order to determine the standard of living one might expect to find in that region.
